Your guide and driver will come to collect you from your hotel at the appointed time. Today's first stop is the Tiananmen Square, the world's largest city square located in the center of Beijing. Then we walk for a few minutes to the well-known Forbidden City, which lies due north of the Tiananmen Square. The Forbidden City, which is the palace where the imperial families in the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1912 AD) once lived, has super achievements on architecture. Besides, it is also a large museum exhibiting the most valuable relics of China. Today, you will follow the guide to learn about the imperial life in ancient China through the architecture and relics.
Next, we will drive for around 1.5 hours to get to the Mutianyu Great Wall, another highlight of this Beijing 2-day tour. With peculiar passes, two-side crenels and dense watch towers, the Mutianyu Great Wall has a significant military value in ancient times. It is the longest section with over 96% vegetation coverage, thus has distinctive scenery in four seasons. Before visiting the Great Wall, you are suggested to have a simple lunch with the guide's recommendations. There are restaurants of simple Chinese foods as well as western fast foods available.
We ensure you enough time hiking on the Great Wall. There are two ways getting up and down the wall: on foot, or a round-way cable car ride. If on foot, you will climb about 500 mountain steps for 30 minutes each way. If taking cable car, a round trip costs CNY120/US$17 and a single trip CNY100/US$14. The guide can help you purchase tickets on the spot. At around 16:00, we will drive back to the downtown Beijing.
Finally we will arrive at Houhai Bar Street & Tobacco Pipe Lane (Yandai Xiejie), where you could experience the wonderful nightlife of Beijing. You can stroll through the traditional alleyways and explore bars, snack shops, and handicraft stores on your own and then return to the hotel by taxi. If you are tired and would like to get back to the hotel directly, your guide will escort you back after dropping other clients off there.
